Other Types of Therapy That May Be Given to Aid in Healing
In addition to the Chiropractic Adjustments performed by Dr. Hutchens, it may be necessary for the patient to receive additional therapy. These physical therapy modalities are very helpful in expediting the healing process, decreasing inflammation and pain, and helping the patient relax before or after an adjustment. Some patients may benefit by only using these therapies: this decision is made by both the patient and Dr. Hutchens.
Infra-Red Light Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Light Therapy is a fairly new therapy that gives wonderful results. It increases circulation into the area of injury which in turn brings healing nutrients our body makes to the injured area. It reduces pain, reduces scar tissue formation, and excellent for radiating symptoms. Dr. Hutchens will use this therapy for those with Diabetes Neuropathy, TMJ, and Plantar Fascitis, just to name a few conditions. It can be used over metal (ie. pins, screws, etc.).
Ultrasound therapy is excellent for smaller, more focused areas of pain. It reduces inflammation and pain, reduces muscle spasms, and breaks-up scar formation. Excellent for muscle and joint pain and inflamed-herniated discs.
Electrical Stimulation Therapy
Electrical Stimulation relaxes the muscles, and reduces inflammation and pain. It is a better choice for larger areas of injury. It is excellent for loosening up neck and back tightness and decreasing pain. Dr. Hutchens will use this therapy a lot at the beginning of treatment to help the patient relax.
